I think YPARD members have understood the critical role they have to play as role models to attract and inspire more young people in agriculture. Moreover, they give it everything to be the "voice" that supports young professionals all over the world and that sensitizes a range of multi-stakeholders to youth's issues.
That there is not enough YPs in agriculture is a reality. However, the process so far in ARD discussions has been to repeat it again again and ask constantly "why" with no clear answer at the end, as well as blame young people for not being interested in agriculture.
At the opposite, we want and need to emphasize that there ARE also existing Young People passionate about agriculture. YPARD members try to address to shortage in YPs in agriculture by stressing the concrete and specific issues that make the agricultural sector extremely "youth-unfriendly" in order to find solutions with the different stakeholders: access to land, finance, lack of infrastructure in rural areas, mismatch of education with the need of the job markets are examples of it.
In brief, Youth in Agriculture must be an integrated stakeholder for their own empowerment and as you can see at the AASW6, they are here to fill their seat.
Thanks for the positive feedback Abby.
