This project proposes an inter-disciplinary assessment and management of the impacts of irrigation on tropical inland fisheries. In response to the complexity of these impacts, the methodology develops a holistic protocol, including an iterative process and the participation of the stakeholders.
For verification and validation, the protocol is tested in two very different contexts regarding irrigation development and fisheries: Laos and Sri Lanka. The results will be displayed in two CA outputs, focusing on:
1) The assessment of irrigation impacts on fisheries production and rural livelihoods;
2) The development of a protocol for the assessment and management of irrigation impacts on fisheries. Testing in Sri Lanka
