Andrew Noble is the Deputy Director General of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Drylands (ICARDA). He is the former director of the CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems.
In August 2012, he was appointed as a senior fellow with the International Water Management Institute, based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Andrew has previously been the research program manager for the Land and Water Resources program in the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and the regional director for IWMI for Southeast and Central Asia. He has held the positions of principal research scientist with the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Organization in the Division of Land and Water; project leader and principal research scientist with the Institute for Commercial Forestry Research; and lecturer in the department of Crop Science, University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
His research career in agriculture spans over 30 years and includes research and academic assignments in South Africa, Australia and Southeast and Central Asia. Andrew holds a PhD in agronomy from the University of Georgia, US.
