Nargiza Nizamedinkhodjayeva joins the CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE) in Sri Lanka as a post-doctoral fellow for the Gender, Poverty and Institutions (GPI) research theme under the supervision of Nicoline de Haan, Coordinator- GPI . She holds a PhD degree in Social Sciences from Wageningen University, the Netherlands, where her PhD was entitled Livelihood Strategies: Gender and Generational Specificities of Rural Livelihoods in Transition.
She has prior experience conducting research on irrigation development, natural resource management, gender, and rural livelihoods. Within GPI, she will focus on researching the gender aspects of access to water and land. She will also be responsible for providing support on gender mainstreaming within the diverse portfolios under WLE.
Nargiza is based at IWMI headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
