The project was initiated to provide background information to a possible “dialogue” (in Dialogue on Water, Food and Environment) on the East Rapti basin in Nepal, as well as to provide a case study of how people are trying to compensate goals of food and environmental security. It aims to identify the groups of people who have benefited from the project and the impacts of irrigation on park activities, nature and type of conflicts between irrigated agriculture in buffer zone and park activities, the measures to reduce conflict between irrigation users and park people. The study was carried out in Chitwan District of mid-region in Nepal.
