The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) is a non-profit, scientific facility that conducts research on the most pressing challenges of forest and landscape management around the world. CIFOR envisions a more equitable world where forestry and landscapes enhance the environment and well-being for all. Using a global, multidisciplinary approach, CIFOR aims to improve human well-being, protect the environment, and increase equity. To do so, CIFOR helps policymakers, practitioners and communities make decisions based on solid science about how they use and manage their forests and landscapes.
CIFOR’s work is based on three pillars: research for impact; capacity development; and outreach and engagement. It does this by working with local and international partners. CIFOR leads the CGIAR Research Program on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry (FTA).
Founded in 1993, CIFOR is headquartered in Bogor, Indonesia, and is a member of the CGIAR System Organization, a global research partnership for a food-secure future.
