I don't buy the idea that farm size matters. Whether it is small or large provided that the soil is not fertile enough and the crops used are of low quality, the yield will be low in both cases, and it will be worse for the large scale farming since high capital is invested in there. So fertilizers and good seeds matters. We need to emphasize on small scale because accessibility of food to the family is the most important aspect to development. If the emphasis is on large scale still food will not be accessible to all society member because of its cost.
